The staff from the Yacht Club de Cannes, organizer of the Régates Royales
The Régates Royales are organized by a group of enthusiasts with a deep respect for what has been done by their predecessors since 1978: Jean-Pierre Odéro who made it all happen, Jean-Paul Ortelli, Gérard Pascalini and their teams. The YCC's presidents who came over the time and who all contributed with their time, passion and the necessary means to keep on : Nic Johanssen, Jacques Flori, Denis Charvoz, Jean-Claude Montésinos, Jacques Flori.
Each progress or development is made bearing in mind what was done in the paste and not just for the pleasure of changing things. This is such a great event that motivates everyone to find the resources and the energy needed to organize it.
All along the year, the team from the Yacht Club de Cannes, employees, members and managers meet, reflect, find sponsors and work to make the event better and answer to the participants' and the stakeholders' needs. Some days before and all along the racing week more that 100 volunteers and 20 employees work non-stop to organize the events offshore and ashore.
The YCC uses professional stewards on the course while a specialized MD is always ready to intervene. The SNSM (Société nationale de sauvetage en mer), the Cannes association of pro fishermen, the local Police and the Coast guard are also working on the safety side, enabling the sailors and the spectators to enjoy the event in total security. The Club has total support from the city of Cannes and the Chamber of Commerce, of the Port Authority and the Pilots who take part in the daily organizers' meetings, guaranteeing the best possible setting of the race courses, considering the weather conditions and the local maritime traffic. For over 10 years, our partners and mainly the main sponsor Officine Panerai, the City of Cannes, the Alpes-Maritines departement, the Chamber of Commerce and the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region, Marinepool and many more institutional and private partners as well as the exhibitors give us the necessary support to organize the event as best as possible: without them the Régates Royales de Cannes could not be.
I'm fortunate enough to work with this exceptional team organizing the Régates Royales Cannes and I'm proud to be able to contribute to this fantastic event that is becoming more and more relevant to the city and is going to generate a greater economic impact in the region. We are also going to work to welcome the people of Cannes and the tourists who will choose to be here, because Cannes during the Régates Royales is the place to be...
